Shandong Huacheng High-Tech Material Technology Co., Ltd., the maker of Ahonesty radiative cooling paint and film, has joined the drafting team for a new Chinese national standard: Technical Requirements and Evaluation Methods for Heat-Reflective Materials Used on Building Exterior Walls and Roofs. The work follows the Standardization Administration of China’s notice on the second batch of recommended national standard projects for 2026 (Guo Biao Wei Fa [2026] No. 15). The lead drafting organisation is China Testing & Certification International Group (CTC).

What the standard covers
The standard deals with heat-reflective materials used on the outside of buildings: the coatings, membranes and other products that reflect sunlight off walls and roofs to reduce heat gain. It will set out the technical requirements these materials must meet and the methods used to evaluate them.
For building owners, designers and buyers, this matters because heat-reflective and radiative cooling products are often hard to compare. Different suppliers quote different figures, measured in different ways. A common national standard gives the industry one set of requirements and one way of testing, so a reflectance or durability figure on one datasheet can be read the same way as on another.
Why we took part
For us, joining the drafting team is both recognition from the industry and a test of our own standardisation and R&D systems.
Standards as a hard constraint on R&D
In materials science, a product’s performance is only as good as its consistency from batch to batch, and that consistency ultimately depends on standards. We treat standardisation as a core part of research and development. From raw material selection and formulation design to process control in production, we run an internal set of company standards that is stricter than common industry requirements. The aim is simple: every batch should pass strict testing and hold up in long-term use on real projects.
Helping to write the national standard is a natural extension of that work. Only a company with a solid R&D system of its own is in a position to help set the rules for the whole industry.
Years of work on heat-reflective materials
Our place on the drafting team rests on years of research into heat-reflective materials. We have focused for a long time on building energy-saving materials and have built up technical strengths in the key areas the standard addresses: heat-reflective performance, weather resistance and environmental safety. The data and experience from our lab work and field projects will feed into the drafting process.
You can see how this shows up in our products in our guides to radiative cooling paint and radiative cooling film, which list the test data behind each product.
What comes next
Joining the drafting team is a starting point, not the finish line. Our technical team will take part in every stage of the drafting work, working closely with the lead organisation and other industry partners to turn what we have learned in research and practice into clear standard requirements. Our goal is to help build sound technical specifications and evaluation methods for heat-reflective materials on building walls and roofs.
Frequently asked questions
Which standard is Huacheng helping to draft?
The national standard Technical Requirements and Evaluation Methods for Heat-Reflective Materials Used on Building Exterior Walls and Roofs, under the Standardization Administration of China’s second batch of 2026 projects (Guo Biao Wei Fa [2026] No. 15).
Who leads the drafting?
China Testing & Certification International Group (CTC) is the lead drafting organisation. Huacheng High-Tech is one of the drafting units.
Can I get test reports for your products?
Yes. We publish the test results behind our radiative cooling paint and film and can supply test reports on request.
Standards drive R&D, and R&D builds standards
Standardisation and research go hand in hand. Standards give R&D direction and a basis for decisions, and R&D gives standards real content. We will keep following a “research first, standards-led” approach: making good products while taking an active part in building the industry’s standards system, so that building energy-saving materials can develop on a solid technical footing.
What this means for our customers
- Clearer comparisons: as the standard comes into use, buyers will be able to compare heat-reflective products against the same requirements and test methods.
- Consistent quality: our internal standards are designed to be stricter than general industry requirements, so each batch performs like the last.
- Data you can check: we publish the test results behind our products and can supply test reports on request.
